CLASSROOMS: WAVE has rebuilt 3 classroom buildings

TOILETS
WAVE has built a 7 stall toilet facility for the village school children to use.
RAIN SHUTTERS: Ghana's tropical climate leads to heavy rainstorms. Classes without shutters are typically cancelled and children sent home. Shutters give students the opportunity to significantly increase the number of days a year they spend in school. The new classrooms have been built with full walls and window blocks instead of shutters. Classes have never been cancelled since the new buildings have been completed.
VILLAGE SUPPLIES
SCHOOL SUPPLIES- WAVE has donated schools supplies to support over 8 classrooms of students.
SPORTING GOODS- snake bites are one of the leading causes of injury among village youth playing in the fields. WAVE's donations helped purchase a lawn mower so that children have a safe area to play.
OUR Story
WAVE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2007. We are headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area and have operations in Ghana's capital city of Accra and the village of Godenu. WAVE works directly with local influencers to ensure maximum governance and transparency. WAVE staff members also travel to Ghana several times a year to directly monitor donation spending, and also provide cultural tours to first time visitors.
WAVE is currently supporting Local Authority Basic School in GBI Godenu, Ghana. The number of children attending school in the village has risen from 85 students to currently 250.

GODENU
Ghana
Ghana is a democratic country located in West Africa. In terms of wealth, Ghana is ranked just behind countries like Sudan and Nicaragua on a GDP per capita basis. Ghanians are known for being peaceful and inviting to foreigners.
Godenu is a small village of 1,000 people located in the Hohoe municipality, 4 hours drive from the capital of Accra. Like most villages in frontier markets, Godenu lacks modern conveniences like running water, refrigeration, and electricity. However, Godenu possesses many characteristics long lost in Western society. Politically, the village is governed by a council of elders and the local chief. Culturally, Godenu is driven by the rhythm of Ghanian drums and tribal dance.
